Electronic Resources

These online databases are governed by licence agreements and are for personal use by Veech Library members only. Specific licence conditions for use of individual databases can be found within that database under headings such as “terms of use, “legal Information”, “conditions of use” or similar. It is important you read and observe these terms and conditions.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Every second Monday of the month, from 9pm – 11pm, Sydney time, server updates will be run at the Veech Library. Access to e-resources may be unavailable or intermittent during these hours.

ABTAPL JOURNALS HOLDING LIST
This website is useful to locate periodicals and their holdings in theological libraries in Britain. The information is frequently updated by the member libraries of the Association of British Theological and Philosophical Libraries (ABTAPL).

ATLA RELIGION DATABASE WITH ATLASerials PLUS
Broad coverage in all areas of religion and theology with indexes to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays.

AULOTS
AULOTS is a database of the serials holdings of theological and religious libraries in Australia and New Zealand. It contains  holdings for 5256 serial titles held in 96 libraries.

CATHOLIC PERIODICAL LITERATURE INDEX
Provides indexing of periodicals, essay collections, church documents, papal documents and electronic resources expressly addressing the practice and intellectual tradition of Roman Catholicism. (Note: material is now accessed via the ATLA database).

EBSCO DATABASE LIST
EBSCO provides indexing and full text access to journals from Catholic and other religious traditions as well as philosophical journals.

EBSCO EBOOK COLLECTION
Provides full text access to selected books.

ETHICSFINDER
EthicsFinder is an easily useable, expertly curated ethics search engine database hosted by Australian Catholic University. Gathering and displaying thousands of links to existing high-quality articles, books and videos from across the web, it is a comprehensive and continually updated ‘one-stop shop’ for anyone interested in a broad range of ethical, philosophical, cultural and social issues and, in particular, Catholic approaches.

GALE GENERAL ONEFILE
A one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics: current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care,  humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, technology, and many general interest topics.

GOOGLE SCHOLAR
Veech Library full-text resources can be discovered and linked via your Google Scholar search. If you are using Google Scholar within CIS, just click here. If you are outside CIS, click on this link> click on the three bars in the top left-hand corner > go to Settings > Library Links > Search for “Veech” in the search box > Tick it > Save the setting.

JSTOR
The JSTOR Religion and Theology Collection covers the history and philosophy of religious thought spanning traditions, periods, and critical approaches. The collection contains more than 80 titles, drawn exclusively from existing JSTOR Arts and Sciences collections.

MARIST AND PACIFIC MISSION LIBRARY
This digital library makes available books on the history of various missions in the Western Pacific (Oceania), particularly those initially evangelised by the various branches of the Marist religious congregations. Print editions have been scanned into PDF.

NEW CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA
The New Catholic Encyclopedia is a multi-volume reference work on Roman Catholic history and belief, edited by the faculty of The Catholic University of America. This is the 2003 second edition with updated supplements available in full text.

OXFORD REFERENCE ONLINE
ORO gives access to a broad range of Oxford University Press reference resources and dictionaries, for example The Oxford Guide to People and Places of the Bible and The Oxford Companion to Philosophy.

PHILOSOPHERS INDEX (Currently Unavailable)
Current and comprehensive database covering scholarly research in all major fields of philosophy Considered the most thorough index of periodical literature on the subject. Contains research published since 1940 including over 680 journals from more than 50 countries with content representing a variety of languages.

RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY COLLECTION (Ebsco)
Religion & Philosophy Collection™ provides access to more than 300 full text journals that cover topics such as theology, biblical studies, religious history, political philosophy and moral philosophy.

RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY COLLECTION (Gale)
A customised selection of over 200 magazines and academic journals covering religion, philosophy, and the related areas of archaeology and anthropology.

SHARING THE WORD ONLINE LIBRARY
The Sharing the Word eLibrary provides full text and free online access to a wide array of English language resources in the areas of Catholic faith, living and spirituality, history and culture.

 

THESES RESEARCH

AMERICAN DOCTORAL DISSERTATIONS INDEX (1933-1955)
This index contains over 93,000 citations of the Doctoral Dissertations Accepted by American Universities (DDAAU) between 1933-1955. This open source was created with the help of the Congregational Library & Archives in Boston and funded by the H.W. Wilson Foundation. Now included in EBSCO Open Dissertations.

EBSCO Open Dissertations
Open Dissertations is an open-access database built to assist researchers in locating both historic and contemporary dissertations and theses. Created with the generous support of the H.W. Wilson Foundation and the Congregational Library & Archives in Boston, it incorporates EBSCO’s previously released American Doctoral Dissertations, and features additional dissertation metadata contributed by select colleges and universities from around the world. Providing researchers with citations to graduate research across a span of time, from the early 20th century to the present, this database will continue to grow through regular updates and new partnerships with graduate degree-granting institutions.

Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD)
This database searches a large number of international electronic theses/dissertations from selected universities. Includes useful links to the international theses repositories.
